An-Answer-For-Every-Wild-Question-Glamping-Wild

In short, Glamping is glamorous camping.  Glamping provides all the benefits of spending time in nature and traditional camping, but the accommodations are ready and waiting for guests so you won’t be roughing it and you won’t have to spend time pitching a tent, etc.  There are many variations of “glamorous” in the world of glamping.  Glamping Wild offers geodesic dome tents that feature heating and cooling temperature control, kitchenette and full bathroom, queen-sized beds with luxury bedding and upscale design and decor. In other words, we opted for lots of glamorous in our version of glamping!

Yes! We have two dog-friendly geodomes – Caim & Dochas. If you plan to bring your best friend with you, do not book our Kokoro geodome, which is our only pet-free tent. We allow one dog per tent for a non-refundable pet fee of $75.  You must agree to abide by the terms of our Pet Policy.  Dogs must be kept on a leash at all times, and must not be left alone in the geodome.

Approximately 2.5 acres in size, our wetlands preserve has a stream running through it, with sitting areas, walking paths and our walking labyrinth. We are in the process of a wetlands restoration project, which includes sloping the streamline to ensure a healthier future ecosystem.  A wide variety of wetland plant and animal life can be observed in our wetlands. Please stay on the walking paths and sitting area at all times.

While we have a washer and dryer on-site for our cleaning crew, we do not make the laundry facilities available to guests since most stays are four nights or less and guests typically pack accordingly. Upon request, the laundry facilities can be made available for guests staying with at Glamping Wild for a week or longer.

No hunting is permitted at any time.  Seasonal hunting is available at nearby Pond Mountain.  Information can be found on the NC Wildlife website.

Although we are within a one hour of Boone, West Jefferson and Mountain City, the Pond Mountain area is a wild and relatively untouched place. Thus, there is an abundance of wildlife just as there would be in a national or state park, or gameland preserve. The main wild animals you may see during your stay at Glamping Wild include turkey, deer, dove, quail, a variety of song birds, buzzards, and hawk. They are not onsite, but you will see and hear cows on neighboring farmland. We have never seen a bear on-site but they are in the surrounding areas. Also, while it is unlikely you will see them, there are snakes in the area. As unpopular as they may be, they do help control the pest and rodent population. Simply staying on the paths and gravel roads will keep you out of their way and allow them to play their role in our ecosystem. In addition to wild life, life in the wild can include some interaction with bugs, some cute, some not so cute!  We love our lightning bugs/fireflies.  Spiders and ticks, not so much.  You will definitely see all of the above at Glamping Wild.  Bug spray is located under the kitchen sink in each dome.

A few things you may want to considering bringing:

  • Groceries

  • Bug spray
  • Sunscreen
  • Your favorite playlist
  • Someone you love (or at least like a lot!)
  • A more comprehensive list is available in Glamping Wild’s Guidebook prior to check-in.

No. Our grills are propane.  Firewood is need for the communal firepit, but there is an abundance of burnable wood available onsite.  If you don’t want to forage, please feel free to bring your own.  Please note that fire bans are in effect from time-to-time and no burning is permitted during those times.
